What Would Jesus Say?

September 9, 2010

What Would Jesus Say?

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.  Ye shall know them by their fruits.  Do men gather grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”
(Mat. 7:15-16).

Bill Cosby; What do you think? …

April 13, 2010

As submitted to tonight’s CNN Larry King Live:

Bill Cosby; What do you think? …

Do you agree, that the problem of teenage suicides in schools needs to be correctly identified in order to be solved?

Bullying, unhappiness, negative peer pressures and such, are not rational excuses for committing suicide! These are the results of the problem, not the heart of it.

Our society reaps what it sows. The first step was in taking God out of our schools.

How about taking it from there, or at least discussing it? …

Hate your Parents?

For Doncolecartoons, In my bible, Jesus said that if I am a heathen or disagree with his principle, I am already committed to the everlasting fires of hell.
He also says we must hate our parents if they are heathens, also.
This appears to me that this Jesus is trying to start another earthly religion that separates people and families even more than they naturally are. The Islam religion divides us also by commanding that you cut off the heads of those that will not conform to Mohammed’s teachings. Can you see some weird nonsense in the religious teachings above? They talk about love as if hatred is a part of it, and even more intense than life would be if no religions at all. There is nothing heavenly in religions. Religions are man-made, and so are morals. The only thing divine is in our dreams. True Love, Armand

Back to Armand, Hmm… How can I answer all that in just a few words? First of all, I am an advocate for truth, not religions. My take on what you have written here, is that you have very little knowledge about the Bible, and Jesus Christ; and that you are completely off track in the thoughts you have presented here. Of course, for me to just say that, means nothing unless I provide substance, which I will be delighted to do –especially on a public and open forum where I can reach out to more than one person at a time. Often it takes a complete article, in length, to effectively and rationally try to answer a given issue. About your statement, “we must hate our parents if they are heathens,” read Matthew 10:32-39.
The Lord does not require us to love these less, but him more. Love for him must become the dominant principle of life.
If you are looking at Luke 14:26 “hate his father;” –this is a vivid hyperbole, meaning that one must love Jesus even more than one’s immediate family. In order to correctly understand the Bible, one must know how to use it, and to consider all that is written about any given subject, and all other rational aspects. –dc

E-mail to Larry King: “Why doesn’t God stop bad things from happening?”

November 17, 2009

Larry, “Why dosen’t God step in and stop calamities from happening?”
Obviously, that is not God’s plan. Man was made in God’s image, with a free-will to do whatever.

Think about it, if God were to put a shield all around us to protect us from all harm, etc., what would that make us? –certainly less than human. Also, it saddens me when your guest celebrity preachers refuse to deal with the deep and important issues you ask about, such as the Muslim religion, or “Why should I believe?”  etc. Their skirting the issues is hardly , ‘being the light and salt of the earth,’ or any attempt to ‘go into all the world, baptizing all nations, teaching them what Christ has commanded.’ (Re; Matt.28:18-20). –dc

 Dave Cohen,
Saying it does not fix the problem, but it helps to think about who we are in the sight of God. God is no respecter of persons. We are to love God and one another, and not to think that we are better than others. Yes, I believe that as you admit, this incident could have been mistaken in being labeled as racial profiling. When you look at the facts without prejudices, it is very clear that this incident had nothing to do with racial profiling, other than what the professor, who was totally out of line, made it out to be. I thought I had made my self clear, that this has nothing to do about anyone saying that racial profiling doesn’t exist. What is troublesome, is the idea that because racial profiling exists, as does many other wrongs in this world, it should be a reason or excuse to throw our justice system out the window, assuming who is right and who is wrong according to their race. Professor Gates needs to obey and respect the authority of police officers doing their job, just like everyone else. What is so ironic in this particular case, is that the police were there to protect the professor’s own property. Professor Gates should have been thankful and eager to cooperate. It is shocking that a man of his standing, education and caliber would harbor such a racial and hateful attitude to a public servent just because that person is white. The professor should apologize to society, get off his high horse and go out on a few shifts with these courageous police officers, who are risking their lives daily, in order to help protect society. We need to be reaching forward for what is good and right, not hindering that process by stepping backwards  in time. –dc

Everything is not racism

The lady Ann is the only one who is trying to stay on topic. This is not a debate whether or not racism exists. This is about people claiming racism where no racism exists. How can we obtain law and order, if people are not required to show any respect for the police? –Donald Cole, Dover NJ
